June 27, 2019 in the reading room “Tafakkur” of the National Library of Uzbekistan opened a book-illustrative exhibition dedicated to the « Day of press and media workers of the Republic of Uzbekistan».
Noting the merits of the press and media in promoting the ideas of state sovereignty, building a new democratic society, educating the population in the spirit of devotion to the Motherland, and taking into account the numerous proposals of journalists, writers, scientists and general public, in accordance with the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Uzbekistan on establishment of the «Day of Press and Media Workers of the Republic of Uzbekistan» dated June 24, 1993, annually in June 27, Uzbekistan celebrates the «Day of press and media». In June 27, 1906, 109 years ago, the first issue of the first Uzbek-language newspaper «Tarakki» (Progress) was published, leaving a bright mark on the history of the national press.
At present, in our country the necessary organizational, legal, technical conditions have been created for carrying out free activities in the information sphere of public, non-state institutions and structures. Legislation aimed at ensuring the support and development of free and independent media, freedom of information and pluralism of opinions in society, the formation of a competitive environment in the information space, the provision of privileges and preferences for the media, etc. are constantly being improved. Much attention in Uzbekistan is paid to improving the system of training and retraining of personnel in the information sphere. Today, the National University of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek State University of World Languages, the University of Journalism and Mass Communications, Karakalpak State University are preparing journalists for the media of our country.
The book-illustrative exhibition dedicated to the « Day of press and media workers of the Republic of Uzbekistan» presents books, brochures, magazines and photographs telling about the everyday lives of journalists and publishers, representatives of the fourth government.
